How often does the gasket/weather-stripping on a Carlson Pet Door need to be replaced?
Gaskets will rarely need to be replaced due to the normal functioning of the pet doors. However, if your pet decides to take a special liking to the gasket and rips it out, we do offer replacement gaskets that easily slide into place with.
What’s the best way to clean a pet door?
Never use a dry cloth or any cleaner with ammonia to clean your pet door. Doing so could harm your pet. Use a damp cloth with a mild soap or a cleaner intended for polycarbonate.
How do I know what size of pet door is best for my pet?
The width and height of your pet will determine which Carlson pet door is best suited for your them. The pass-through width of the door should be about one inch wider than the width of your pet’s midsection.
Because your pet will lower their head and lift their legs to access the door, measure from the top of the shoulders to the bottom of your pet’s chest, just behind the front legs to obtain the appropriate minimum pass-through height dimension.

The weight of each Carlson pet door varies depending on the particular model and size. By comparison, if your pet is able to nudge open an unlatched standard door, the pet will have no trouble with our pet doors.
